I spent a night soaking the beans, a day slow roasting them, carefully adding spices and onions a long the way. Finally, we were in the wee hours of bean-o-rama, but I had to run out with my daughter for about 30 minutes. There was my bean-fatal mistake. Never trust a man with a laptop in his lap to care for your beans. Ever.<\/span><\/p>\n



\n\tUpon returning home, an acrid smell wafted outside. My husband greeted me at the door with a sad puppy look. I burnt the beans. I ran to the kitchen to see if I could salvage anything, but alas, there were black chunks of charred legume floating in the mix. <\/span>

\n\tEverything was bitter, smokey and of course ruined. “My beans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”, I screamed. “My precious, precious beans!!!!”. <\/span>

\n\t

\n\tOK, I actually didn’t say it like that, but I felt somewhat vested in this beany project, so I was feeling rather dejected. I dumped the whole kit and kaboodle into the trashcan. Husband tries to sneak away, but my shriek stopped him in his tracks. The bottom of the giant soup pot was completely encrusted in black. “YOU..get to clean this up, buddy.” <\/span>

\n\tSmugly, he takes the stainless steel pot and fills it with water. He starts to boil it on the stove. Oh great, I think..he’s flipped and we’re having charcoal soup. After the pot started to simmer and come to a slow boil, he brought the pot back to the sink and started scrubbing.<\/span>

\n\t

\n\tThe black charred remnants scrubbed off fairly easily. This is the ultimate trick for removing burned food on your pots, and will save considerable time.
