How to make your own home made play dough: First things first. You will need:<\/p>\n

2 cups floor
\n1 cup salt
\n4 tsp cream of tartar
\n2 cups water
\n3 tbsp vegetable oil<\/p>\n

Put dry ingredients in a big mixing bowl and slowly add the water as you mix. Then add oil to the mixture. The consistency should be moist, but not too dry or too wet. Keep mixing if it’s too wet, or add in a tablespoon of flour if too wet. Knead the dough in the bowl until you have play dough consistency. Some people add Koolaid to color their playdough. I personally separate out several balls, and add a drop or two of liquid food coloring. Let the kids knead the color in. It will turn their hands red, blue, green etc. but I promise it will wash off in a good bath soak. I get more colors this way, and have more flexibility. Get out your cookie cutters, and let the kids go to town stamping out shapes, or kneading their own shapes. If you’d like to keep it moist after play, store in tubberware. However, it doesn’t keep THAT well. It’s easy enough to make a new batch. If you’d like to dry the playdough for shapes, or ornaments, place on a cookie sheet and put in the oven at 150 degrees for 1-2 hours.
