If you’ve been scrolling through social media lately, you’ve probably come across beautifully organized refrigerators, often with a specific theme. I was captivated by a Reel I saw by Lynzi Judish<\/a>, featuring a stunning Hobbit-inspired food layout.<\/p>\n

Fridgescaping is the art of organizing and decorating the inside of your refrigerator. It’s a creative trend that involves arranging food items in a visually appealing and functional way.<\/p>\n

While my husband was working out in the garage, I decided to give my fridge a makeover. I started by wiping down the inside and discarding expired food and condiments that were celebrating birthdays. To create a theme, I used a few small bird figurines and a brass rabbit for a nature-inspired look.<\/p>\n

\u00a0I started putting items back in, some in pretty vintage dishes and bowls. I did check to make sure my vintage ware touching food was lead-free.<\/p>\n

I also removed labels from things like pickled veggies, olives, and roasted red peppers. I know what they are, and aesthetically it looked nicer without branding.<\/p>\n

I cackled with laughter as I moved items around to see what looked best. Have I lost my mind? Well, sort of, but the surge of creativity and organization made me feel good.<\/p>\n

So not only did I do something fun (albeit not realistic for day-to-day use), but I cleaned out my fridge. I also realized that as I could SEE All of my pretty produce, the practice of fridgescaping can significantly reduce food waste by making food more enticing and accessible. When food is presented in a visually appealing manner, it is more likely to capture attention and be consumed. Foodscaping can encourage people to choose healthier, more sustainable options, ultimately reducing food waste.<\/p>\n

I recently purchased glass milk container<\/span>s<\/strong><\/a> to replace the cardboard ones I find unappealing. Other than that, I didn’t buy anything new for this project. Instead, I sourced materials from my existing decor to see what I could create spontaneously. I realized that with a bit of planning, the possibilities for creativity are endless.<\/p>\n

My fridgescape is relatively simple compared to some Instagram examples, but it was meant to be a fun and unplanned experiment. I hid all the branded cheese, tortillas, and dips in the lower drawer, which isn’t visible in my photos.<\/p>\n

My husband thought I was crazy when he saw the fridge, but he quickly started eating blueberries and other fresh food. I consider that a success!<\/p>\n

As an empty nester, this was a fun project. With small children, this arrangement probably wouldn\u2019t last long, but it was enjoyable and satisfying to create. It may also become difficult to keep track of how long seafood and other meats have been in the fridge<\/a>, so that’s something you’ll need to consider as well.\u00a0 As we picked through the fresh produce, eventually cute dishes started to make their way out of the fridge. I did keep the fresh herbs in water, and that might be something that stays!<\/p>\n
