Daylight savings time ends this Sunday, November 5th at 2 a.m. and I for one can’t wait for the extra hour of sleep! While I welcome the bonus snooze time in the morning, the early darkness often throws my schedule out of whack.<\/p>\n

My internal clock will tell me it’s dark and it’s time to go to bed. However, the clock on the wall says it’s 4:45 pm and that I need to suck it up for a few more hours!<\/p>\n

Longer darker nights can also mean dangerous driving conditions. Here’s a list of things you can do to prepare for the shorter days and stay safe on the road:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Check Car Lights<\/strong>
    \nTake a few minutes to check your brake lights, headlights, taillights and signal lights. If you have a bulb out, these are all easy fixes that you can take care of at your local auto-parts store.<\/li>\n
  2. Check Headlight Settings\u00a0<\/strong>
    \nMost cars have headlights that automatically go on at dusk. Others have an override option, or you have to manually turn them on, so make your lights are going on at dusk.
    \nRemember<\/strong> – use your low beams when you need to see at closer range (up to 250 in front of your) and your high beams when you need to see farther away (over 350 feet). And, please – always turn your high beams off when an oncoming car is approaching. No one likes to be blinded!<\/li>\n
  3. Check your Child’s Car Seat or Booster Seat
    \n<\/strong>The time change is also a great opportunity to check your child’s car set installation.\u00a0 Even if you think you installed it correctly, now is a time to re-check and make sure it’s still secure!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    I’ll never forget driving around town with my husband\u00a0chatting away when we heard our 2-year-old in the back saying, “What happened? What happened?” We turned around to see that her car set was COMPLETELY sideways, with her strapped in it! She didn’t seem all that upset about it, but it was a scary wake-up call that straps, latches, and tethers may become loose for various reasons.\u00a0
    \n<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Recently, Cars.com<\/a><\/strong> had certified child passenger safety technicians conduct hands-on tests of a car\u2019s Latch system and check the vehicle\u2019s ability to accommodate different types of car seats.\u00a0 Forward facing, rear facing, booster and infant seats were tested to see how they fit and how they attach.<\/p>\n
